Are presets the same as plugins?

Glad you asked! Presets and plugins are completely different things in the Lightroom realm.

Presets are essentially pre-defined sets of adjustments that have been saved to a file so Lightroom users can recall those settings and adjustments with a single click.

Plugins on the other hand often add or modify functionalities of a software. In the case of Lightroom, a plugin might add a sharing service that’s not in the core Lightroom application, or maybe add a feature to one of the modules. Plugins basically enhance the feature set of Lightroom. They’re not the same as presets.

We don’t currently offer any Lightroom plugins on the Contrastly Store, only Lightroom & ACR presets.
